How to Become a Google Partner: 4 Steps to Follow

Learn how to become a Google Partner: register, pass the Google Ads certification exams, meet the US$10,000 ad spend and keep your agency performing well.

How to become a Google Partner in 4 steps

Becoming a Google Partner can open up real business opportunities in the advertising world. It's not just for individuals but also for companies that work in advertising. Joining Google's program comes with plenty of benefits. Want to become a Google Partner? Here are the steps and requirements.

4 Steps to Join the Google Partners Program

1. Complete the initial registration

Becoming a Google Partner isn't easy. But the process itself is what makes your company look more credible at managing ads once it carries the Google Partner badge. The first step is to register with a Google Manager account and submit your documents.

2. Pass the certification exams

The next step toward becoming a Google Partner is passing the certification exams. To get in, you need to pass at least two certification exams run directly by Google. Google offers at least 6 certification exams you can take, depending on your level.

The certification exams Google offers include Google Ads Video, Google Ads Shopping, Google Ads Fundamentals, Google Ads Mobile, Google Ads Search and Google Ads Display Network. You need to take these exams on the Academy for Ads platform at least once a year to raise your partner tier.

3. Meet the Google Ads spending requirement

Another requirement for becoming a Google Partner is a mandatory ad spend on Google. If you or your company wants to join, you must buy a minimum amount of Google advertising over a period of roughly 90 days.

Within those 90 days, your company must spend at least US$10,000 on Google ads. Why is this required? The minimum spend helps you or your agency keep up solid performance in digital advertising, which counts in your favor when Google reviews you.

4. Keep the registered company performing well

Beyond the steps above, becoming a Google Partner also means making sure the ad business you run consistently performs well. Google weighs this when deciding whether to accept your company as a partner. Strong business performance counts in your favor.

That's a quick overview of what you need to know about becoming a Google Partner. Joining Google and running a digital advertising business can open up big opportunities. Today's growth in digital technology gives many business owners a real chance to grow their companies.
