These 5 newborn baby bath essentials, from a safe tub and washcloth to gentle skin care and a soft towel, make bath time safer and easier.

5 Newborn Baby Bath Essentials Every Mom Needs

What do you need to make bath time comfortable for your little one, especially a newborn? The answer varies with your preferences, taste, budget and where you live. But at the most basic level, there are 5 baby bath essentials every parent should have, from the tub to skin care products. Here's a closer look.

The Essentials for Bathing Your Baby

1. Bathtub and Mat

A baby bathtub and a mat go hand in hand. When choosing a tub, size is the main thing to consider. Avoid tubs that are too deep, since they make bathing harder and put your baby at risk of drowning. It's also a good idea to pick one with rubber feet to keep it from slipping.

The tub's shape affects how comfortable bath time is for both you and your baby. Sharp corners can hurt delicate skin. Also make sure a plastic tub is certified BPA-free and heat-resistant. If the tub doesn't have rubber feet, use a separate rubber mat to prevent slipping.

2. Washcloth or Sponge

This baby bath essential is usually used to clean between the fingers and other parts of your baby's body, such as the ears, the diaper area, the back and the tummy. You can also use it to wipe your baby down without a full bath. Just dip it in warm water and gently wipe your baby's skin.

3. Toys

Toys aren't considered a must for newborns. Still, they can help soothe your little one, and they can also stimulate motor development as your baby grows. Try a toy like a rubber duck to engage the senses of touch, sight and hearing.

4. Skin Care Products

Don't forget to use skin care products made specifically for babies. Choose shampoo, soap, lotion, powder and other products that are proven safe and high quality, such as Mitu Baby's shampoo, soap and 2in1 soap, which support healthy hair growth, are gentle on the skin and are hypoallergenic.

5. Towel

A towel is a baby bath essential you shouldn't underestimate. Have it ready both before and after the bath, because a baby's body can't regulate its temperature well. A towel keeps your baby warm, protects against chills from drafts and dries off the water on your little one's body.

Simply put, newborns need baths less often than adults do. But that doesn't mean you can skip the right bath gear for your little one. Choose each item carefully to prevent accidents and make bath time more comfortable.
