There are plenty of online payment methods to choose from. Learn the pros and cons of ATM transfers, cash on delivery and credit cards for your online store.

3 online payment methods businesses can offer

Increasingly advanced technology has made many tasks easier, including buying and selling. You no longer need to go to the mall; with a decent device and internet connection, you can order the products you want. You can even choose from a range of payment methods. Here are the types of online payment you can use.

A Look at the Different Online Payment Methods

1. ATM Transfer

Almost every online store in Indonesia offers this payment method. It is easy, and anyone with a bank account can use it. It does involve a few steps, but it remains popular in Indonesia and is still the first choice for most people

For refunds, buyers who pay this way have to check with the seller or online store they bought the goods from. This often leads to misunderstandings and to fraud at online stores. Mistakes are also common when sellers have to match payment confirmations manually.

Another drawback is that buyers who transfer money between different banks have to pay an extra administrative fee. If you run an online store, consider offering several bank account numbers so buyers can avoid paying interbank transfer fees.

2. COD, or Cash on Delivery

This payment system is very safe because the seller and buyer complete the transaction in person at a meeting place they agree on. As soon as the transaction is done, the seller hands the goods to the buyer. The advantage is that buyers can check the condition of the goods on the spot without paying extra for shipping.

This way of trading also carries risks, because the seller has to meet the buyer in person. To guard against crime, sellers should know what kind of place the meeting point is. Turn it down if a buyer wants to meet somewhere deserted. Also pick a sensible time, such as during or just after working hours

3. Credit Card

Almost all major online stores offer this payment method. Large online stores such as Lazada, Matahari Mall and Elevenia offer a credit card option to shoppers considering a purchase. With a credit card, payment is confirmed automatically, with no need for manual confirmation.

If you run an online store, be sure to offer credit cards as one of your payment methods. Don't make it the only way to pay online, though. Make sure there are alternatives your customers can use to complete a purchase with the methods they have

These three methods can all be used to pay for products online. You can also choose the Duitku system to process payments securely. This trusted transaction system comes with security features that protect each user's identity
