Raising meat chickens is a promising and appealing business opportunity. Meat chickens are broiler-type birds raised for their meat. Because the meat works in so many different dishes, it is no surprise that so many people love eating it. At events such as weddings, many hosts serve meat chicken dishes like ayam goreng tepung (battered fried chicken), ayam kremes (fried chicken with crispy crumbs) and others.

Since these chickens are raised for meat, it is no surprise that they grow fast and put on a lot of meat in a short time. Even so, every type of chicken farming has its own methods. If you want to get into the meat chicken business, here is how to raise meat chickens the right way:

An Ideal Coop

Every type of farmed chicken has its own ideal setup, especially when it comes to the coop. For example, a broiler coop is not ideal for raising kampung chickens (Indonesian free-range native chickens), and so on. To raise meat chickens, you need to know what an ideal coop for them looks like. The ideal coop for meat chickens is located far from residential areas, because poorly managed chicken waste can pollute the environment.

Residents will complain if a farm does not handle its waste properly. The next feature of an ideal coop is good air circulation, so air can flow freely in and out of the house. Finally, an ideal coop keeps its internal temperature well controlled. Each growth stage has its own ideal temperature, so you need to be able to adjust it.

Chicks

One step in raising meat chickens you must not skip is choosing healthy, high-quality chicks. You can get them from a trusted supplier or meat chicken farmer. Signs of high-quality chicks are a round body, nimble movement, clear eyes, clean nostrils, defect-free feathers and a clean vent. The number of chicks you buy must match the size of the coop you have built. Do not let it get too crowded, because the chickens may not get enough oxygen and their appetite will drop.

Feed

The next step is to make sure you give your chickens highly nutritious feed. It is not enough to give a lot of feed; it must also be nutritious, containing carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. Unlike kampung chickens, whose feed is rationed, broiler chickens do not need to have their feed limited. That is because the success of a meat chicken farm depends heavily on feeding. Nutritious feed also supports the farm's success, as the chickens reach their target weight by harvest time.

Vaccination

Meat chickens do not have strong immune systems, so they need vaccinations to protect them from a wide range of diseases. Vaccines can be given as eye drops, and some are injected into the breast.
